KAMANA RESIDENCES
The Kamana Residence Development in Fernhill is an extension to Fernhill’s Kamana Lakehouse Hotel, comprising 19 luxury residences in 10 separate buildings, plus a central facilities building.
Given the existing terrain the development requires an extensive amount of earthworks, retaining walls and associated new infrastructure. The development is also located in a heavily suburbanised area which has driven how the project is sequenced and the methodologies undertaken to minimise the impact on affected stakeholders.
The development is located on 10,500m2 of greenfield land with a 38m vertical difference between the bottom and top of the site.
In addition there was a natural gully that took catchment from outside site boundary that has been decommissioned as part of the development.
Civil Projects Limited manages all aspects of the civil quality assurance for this project which includes best practice construction to testing and Engineer and QLDC sign off. To date Civil Projects Limited has completed 18,000m3 of cut to waste, 1,000m3 of cut to fill, 300m of new stormwater infrastructure, 400m of new wastewater infrastructure and 350m of new water infrastructure. All works completed is tested and signed off as the work in constructed.

ARTERIAL
ROUTE
The Arterial Stage 1 Project encompasses a full road reserve upgrade to existing roads and the creation of new. Built as the first stage of a CBD bypass in Queenstown.
Civil Projects Limited was subcontracted by the Wakatipu Transport Programme Alliance as the main 3 Waters contractor for Zone 1 which encompassed the Suburb Street and Frankton Road portion of the overall project.
CPL installed over 1400m of new three waters infrastructure and associated structures. The new assets consisted of up to DN1200 Stormwater, DN375 Wastewater and DN450 Water. The projects technicality was compounded by working around arguably one of the busiest layouts of existing critical underground infrastructure within the district. This required nearly all the new infrastructure to be installed below the existing assets which resulted in excavations and installations up to 5m deep. Excavations at these depths required executing temporary works designs not only due to the depth, but to ensure the existing underground assets were protected during the installation of the new infrastructure. Civil Projects Limited encountered an array of geotechnically complex conditions including running ground water, which required 24/7 dewatering operations, in addition contaminated ground and R2 rock which was encountered and dealt with.
Civil Projects Limited planned and managed the work to accommodate the immediately effected stakeholders, this included several high-density accommodation providers and numerous residents which required 24/7 access during the project. We constructed and maintained numerous temporary access routes in order provide this access, all whilst undertaking the new deep infrastructure installation beside one of the busiest sections of State Highway in the District.
Civil Projects Limited proactively planned and executed extremely complex trenching methods which required an array of different support systems in order to achieve a safe environment for the workers, the immediate stakeholders and the thousands of passing visitors and members of the community each day.
JUNCTION VILLAGE DEVELOPMENT
The Junction Village Development is located just off State Highway 6, North-East of the Frankton BP Roundabout, the main entry point into Queenstown.
The development encompassed subdividing the 15,000m2 site into 15 super-lots and the construction of a car storage building.
Civil Projects Limited was subcontracted by CMP Construction Limited to undertake and manage all civil components of the Subdivision and Car Storage Building.
